Local Recycling Campaign
PLEATSMAMA designs its products using
100% eco-friendly materials, including regen
Polyester, regen Nylon, regen Spandex,
and regen Bio-based Spandex.
LOVE JEJU
Through our “Love Jeju” edition, we sourced clean PET bottles that were collected and sorted by local residents of Jeju Island, where over 10,000 tons of marine plastic waste are generated annually. By applying advanced recycling technology, we became the first in Korea to create a recycled polyester yarn made entirely from Jeju’s PET waste ‘regen Jeju’ and also commercialized Creora® regen, the world’s first 100% recycled spandex.
LOVE SEOUL
In March 2021, following Jeju, we launched products using polyester yarn made from 100% recycled PET bottles collected in Seoul. By initiating this project in one of the world’s most well-known megacities, we aimed to spark greater awareness around recycling and showcase how sustainable practices can be implemented in urban environments.
This led to the creation of ‘regen Seoul’, Korea’s first polyester yarn made from 100% Seoul-collected PET bottles, which we proudly use in our products.
Ocean Campaign
With a deep respect for the ocean, PLEATSMAMA continues to pioneer sustainable practices by utilizing ‘regen Ocean’, a material made from recycled OBP (Ocean Bound Plastic) and recycled nylon made from Ghost Nets. Inspired by places like Yeosu’s night sea and the clear waters of Gijang, our efforts aim to preserve your coastal memories, beautifully and sustainably.
Ocean Bound Plastic
“Yeosu OBP” marks PLEATSMAMA’s first step toward ocean preservation. Through an MOU with Hyosung TNC and Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, we established Korea’s first circular resource system that collects marine plastic waste from departing ships and recycles it into meaningful products.
Wasted Fishing Nets
Rooted in our commitment to living in harmony with the sea, PLEATSMAMA collects discarded fishing nets from Korea’s southern coastal regions and transforms them into recycled nylon yarn.
This initiative led to the creation of our WFN (Wasted Fishing Nets) Edition, a collection that transforms marine waste into sustainable fashion.
