Our ultimate goal is to become the closest partner to sustainable living. Through continuous efforts to develop and commercialize new eco-friendly materials, we aim to achieve innovation in eco-friendly materials and continue our challenge to reduce carbon emissions and environmental pollution in the production process. Consumers will come to realize the beauty and significance of sustainable living through such brand experiences.
Our goal is not merely to sell eco-friendly bags but to encourage the use of bags that embody thoughtfulness and respect for oneself, surroundings, and the environment in daily life. Furthermore, we will strive to play a role as an eco-friendly platform in the fashion market.
The Beginning
of PLEATSMAMA

“If discarded things were given another chance.”
Accumulated inventory of clothing, unused materials like thread. The environmental issues in the fashion industry were worsening as rapidly as the changing trends.
It was this concern of our CEO, Wang Jong-mi, that sparked the beginning of “PLEATSMAMA”.
However, creating products from discarded materials wasn't as easy as it seemed. In the midst of this, we found Hyosung TNC, which produces eco-friendly yarns extracting polyester from discarded PET bottles.
A shared sense of responsibility towards the environment became the common ground between our two companies, leading to a meaningful alliance. Finally, in February 2018, we proudly introduced the nation's first knit pleated bag made from eco-friendly yarn.
This marks the beginning of PLEATSMAMA.
The Growth
of Our Brand

“Bag should be both beautiful and useful.”
Even a meaningful bag made from eco-friendly materials holds no significance if it isn't used. PLEATSMAMA bags feature our signature pleated design, ensuring both beauty and use. The knit structure of the pleated bags allows for versatile use and convenient storage when folded. However, shortly after its launch, and even now continuously, we notice the emergence of large and small companies imitating our pleated design.
We doubled down on creating core brand values that cannot be imitated. The focus was on establishing a sustainable resource circulation system and becoming a brand that initiates change. We collected discarded PET bottles domestically to produce bags in an eco-friendly and ethical manner. Throughout this process, we collaborated with various companies to pioneer the first domestic resource circulation system and continue to build on those efforts. We aim to raise awareness of environmental issues as personal and collective responsibilities, encouraging consumer and industry involvement.
